SKBJ Chess Players Participated in UIA Chess Open

Some of the SKBJ chess players were warming up before the tournament began.

Eight SKBJ chess players participated in the recent UIA Chess Open in Under-12 category. They were among 71 participants for the category which include several MSS state players. Leading the pack is Aminur Nirza Azrin, the SKBJ head prefect and the 2009 MSSD chess champion. Other boy players are his Year 6 buddy, Affan Amrish Mohd Jalani, Mohd Jamil brothers - Afiq and Arif, Fahim Al-Faqeh Saleh of 1 Bakau and six-year-old Muhammad Faqih Aminuddin.

The girls were represented by Anis Fariha Saleh of 5 Chengal, the 2009 MSSD chess champion, and her teammate, Nur Faqihah Aminuddin, a Year 3 pupil. Unfortunately, none of them managed to be in the winners list in the sixth-round rapid (G/25) chess tournament. The tournament was organized by UIA Chess Club and held at the university's Engineering Hall. Besides Under-12 category, other categories are Open and Under 21.
